Dickie & Moore Construction have recently completed the refurbishment and extension of Lidl Dalkeith, 5A Newmills Road, Dalkeith, EH22 1DU on behalf of Lidl GB. All works were completed in line with the requirements of the 2020.2 specification. Works commenced on 24th May with PC achieved on 30th September in line with the agreed programme.
The works involved the installation of new internal underground drainage, partitioning works forming new and upgrading existing non fire rated partition walls, to separate the sales floor and warehouse. Existing walls within the sales floor were lined up to 4.2m and new partitions formed the back of house rooms.
A full new M&E installation followed in line with the specification, including new refrigeration, cold rooms, fire, intruder and CCTV. A new adhesive tiled floor was installed throughout using the specification floor tiles. OWA suspended ceilings were installed to the sales floor at and back of house rooms at specification heights. Specification door sets were installed throughout with new auto doors installed at the new main entrance / exit.
Extensive external works were undertaken with significant changes to both the facades and hard landscaping on the project. Significant temporary works were required to create new shop frontages, soffits and facias were reclad throughout and existing block works rendered to create a fresh look to the store.
There was also an extension of the store, making it the largest Lidl store in Scotland! With the addition of a Lidl DRS pod formed in steel and clad in insulated panels which will house the client’s recycling equipment which customers will be encouraged to use to recycle glass plastics and cardboard.
Dickie & Moore worked closely with Lidl directs throughout the construction and shop fitting stages to complete the new bakery, checkouts, racking and merchandising, with the store launching on 28th October.
